Food Network Honors Anne Burrell with Special Programming

Food Network is set to pay tribute to the late Anne Burrell, renowned celebrity chef and host of the network’s Worst Cooks in America, through two special programming events.

Encore Episodes and New Season Premiere

On Wednesday, June 25 at 10 p.m. ET/PT, the network will broadcast a selection of encore episodes featuring Burrell, showcasing her exceptional talent as a chef, competitor, and educator. Following this, on Monday, July 28, the premiere of a new season of Worst Cooks in America will feature Burrell’s final appearance as a mentor. This season, titled Worst Cooks in America: Talented and Terrible, “highlights recruits who are professional performers used to stealing the spotlight, but in the kitchen, they are creating culinary disasters,” according to the network. Burrell will be joined by boot camp’s Chef Gabe Bertaccini as they strive to transform culinary flops into food masters. This special will air on Food Network at 9 p.m. ET/PT on July 28 and will be available for streaming the next day on HBO Max.

A Tribute to a Culinary Icon

“Anne Burrell was a one-of-a-kind talent whose loss is deeply felt by family, friends, and fans,” stated Betsy Ayala, Head of Content, Food, Warner Bros. Discovery. “With these special programming events, we aim to honor Anne and celebrate her impact on Food Network and beyond, providing fans a way to remember her passion and culinary expertise that infused everything she did.”

Burrell passed away at her home in Brooklyn, NY on June 17 at the age of 55. The official cause of death has yet to be determined.

Throughout the season, with guidance from Anne and Gabe, recruits will tackle restaurant classics, explore global cuisines, and compete in the fan-favorite Remote Control Chef challenge, all in their quest to be the best of the worst.
