Emmy Predictions for ‘The White Lotus’: Nominations & Cast Insights

The Emmy Awards are just around the corner, and ‘The White Lotus’ is generating buzz for its potential nominations. Let’s dive into the cast and crew’s chances this season.

‘The White Lotus’ Emmy Predictions: Which Nominations Will the Cast and Crew Get?

The White Lotus cast may have better luck at the Emmys in Los Angeles than their on-screen counterparts did during their ill-fated Thai vacation. While tragedy shadowed the fictional guests at the resort, the series’ stellar Emmy track record hints at a much brighter fate this awards season.

If history is any indicator, The White Lotus is poised for another big night. The show’s first season swept 10 Emmys, including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series. Season 2 followed suit with five wins, among them Jennifer Coolidge’s win for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. In her now-iconic acceptance speech, Coolidge thanked creator Mike White, saying:

“Mike White, you have given me hope and changed my life in a million different ways. My neighbors are speaking to me. I mean it. I was never invited to one party on my hill and now everyone’s inviting me.”

As awards season heats up, here’s a look at which White Lotus Season 3 cast members might be next to receive an invite to the party.

Best Drama Series

With eight slots available, The White Lotus is a near-lock for a nomination for Outstanding Drama Series. As of now, it’s holding strong in third place on Gold Derby’s prediction charts, trailing Severance and The Pitt. The Last of Us is also close behind in fourth.

Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series

There are seven slots in this competitive category, and The White Lotus has submitted nine contenders: Nicholas Duvernay as Zion, Christian Friedel as Fabian, Walton Goggins as Rick, Jon Gries as Gary, Jason Isaacs as Timothy Ratliff, Sam Nivola as Lochlan Ratliff, Sam Rockwell as Frank, Patrick Schwarzenegger as Saxon Ratliff and Tayme Thapthimthong as Gaitok. Goggins, a two-time Emmy nominee for Justified and Fallout, currently holds the top spot in the odds. Isaacs is tracking closely in fourth, with Rockwell sitting in sixth. Schwarzenegger and Nivola had a slow start in the prediction rankings, but their odds soared following the now-notorious scene between the two Ratliff brothers that aired in late March. Schwarzenegger currently sits in seventh, while Nivola holds the 15th spot.

Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series

With 10 actresses submitted and only seven slots available, the supporting actress category is shaping up to be one of the fiercest races of the season. Two performances in particular are leading the charge: Carrie Coon as Laurie, whose powerful “I have no belief system” monologue opposite Kate (Leslie Bibb) and Jaclyn (Michelle Monaghan) sparked immediate Emmy buzz. Parker Posey, whose razor-sharp delivery — and memorable pronunciation of “Lorazepam” — also made her a fan and critic favorite.

They currently hold the top two spots in the Gold Derby odds, followed by Aimee Lou Wood and returning cast member Natasha Rothwell in fourth and fifth. Bibb rounds out the top 10.

In a recent interview with Gold Derby, Wood reflected on her unusual awards season journey, from being caught in the crossfire of a controversial SNL sketch to the internet’s curiosity over Goggins allegedly unfollowing her on Instagram.

“It’s felt like two chapters of a very complex, amazing, confronting, challenging story. I’ve had to hold a multitude of truths to just be accepting of everything that’s happening,” she shared.

Other submitted actresses include Sarah Catherine Hook (Piper), Charlotte Le Bon (Chloe), Lalisa Manobal (Mook), Michelle Monaghan (Jaclyn), and Lek Patravadi (Sritala).

Best Guest Actor in a Drama Series

Veteran actor Scott Glenn, who portrays billionaire Jim Hollinger, currently sits in third place in Gold Derby’s guest actor odds. With six nomination slots available, he’s in a tight race with Jeffrey Wright (The Last of Us) and Shawn Hatosy (The Pitt). Glenn’s nuanced performance — balancing charm and menace — could help him stand out in a crowded field.

Best Directing and Writing for a Drama Series

Mike White has taken home both the writing and directing Emmys for The White Lotus in 2022 and 2023. Will he make it a three-peat in 2025? White’s distinctive creative voice, sharp satire, and singular vision for the series continue to set The White Lotus apart. He remains a top contender in both categories once again. White made smart choices with both submissions showing his specific talents. For directing, he submitted the action-packed “Amor Fati,” where all the storylines intersect, with some fatal consequences. For writing, he submitted “Full-Moon Party,” otherwise known as the Sam Rockwell Monologue Episode.

Best Music Composition and Main Title Theme

While The White Lotus score remains iconic, the music categories come with a dramatic backstory this year. Composer Cristóbal Tapia de Veer — who has won three Emmys for his work on the show — is not returning for Season 4 after a public fallout with White.

In an interview with The New York Times, Tapia de Veer described their creative clash:

“I was like, OK, this is like a rock band I’ve been in before where the guitar player doesn’t understand the singer at all," he said adding. “Maybe I was being unprofessional, and for sure Mike feels that I was always unprofessional to him because I didn’t give him what he wanted. But what I gave him did this, you know — did those Emmys, people going crazy.”

Despite the drama, Tapia de Veer remains a strong contender in both the Outstanding Music Composition for a Series and Original Main Title Theme Music categories.
