In the world of television production, exciting developments are unfolding with Expectation’s new partnership and Prime Video’s latest acquisitions.
‘Clarkson’s Farm’ Producer Expectation Partners With Plegazoid
Clarkson’s Farm producer Expectation has formed a partnership with David Flynn’s indie production company, Plegazoid. Flynn, the former creative chief at Endemol, will collaborate with Expectation’s development team to craft innovative entertainment formats in the gameshow and reality genres for UK networks and streaming platforms. This collaboration follows a previous partnership between Plegazoid and South Shore, the producer of Flintoff, which resulted in the ITV quiz show Time is Money. Expectation, renowned for producing Clarkson’s Farm, the acclaimed Prime Video series showcasing the challenges faced by former Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson as he manages a farm in the Cotswolds, is thrilled about this new venture. Ben Wicks, Expectation’s Creative Director of Entertainment, stated, “David has been behind some of the most successful game shows and original reality formats. His creations have become staples in television schedules across the globe. We are excited to collaborate with him on his next series of hit shows.” Flynn, who previously served as Chief Creative Officer at Endemol UK, is known for his work on The Million Pound Drop and Pointless.
Prime Video Acquires True Crime Documentaries
Prime Video has recently expanded its catalog of British true crime documentaries, including projects focusing on Anni Dewani, Christopher Halliwell, the Yorkshire Ripper, the London railway murders, and the tragic case of 16-year-old Becky Watts. The streaming service has secured a deal with All3Media-backed Story Films to produce these shows. Leading the lineup is The Honeymoon Murder: Who Killed Anni Dewani?, which delves into the chilling circumstances surrounding the bride’s death during her honeymoon. Hunting The Yorkshire Ripper reveals how law enforcement tracked a hoaxer who allowed a serial killer to evade capture. Recently, it was reported that Prime Video also acquired documentaries about Shannon Matthews, the Orkney assassin, and a Tinder predator. Adam Hopkins, head of factual at Story Films, expressed, “These cases captured both national and international attention. We are honored to share the full stories, featuring interviews with devastated families and the investigative teams pursuing justice.”
