David Bittler Departs Paramount After 25 Years in Communications Leadership

After a remarkable 25-year career at Paramount/Viacom, David Bittler is exiting the company, where he most recently held the role of EVP of Communications for Paramount Kids & Family. His departure follows the completion of Skydance’s acquisition of Paramount Global, making him the second senior communications executive to leave, alongside Liza Burnett Fefferman.
In his final role, Bittler oversaw strategic communications and media relations for Nickelodeon, Awesomeness, and kids & family content on Paramount+. His tenure included leadership on campaigns for some of the studio’s most iconic franchises, including SpongeBob SquarePants, PAW Patrol, Dora the Explorer, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Since joining Viacom in 2000, Bittler played a pivotal role in the historic launch of Logo, the first ad-supported LGBTQ+ television network, and contributed to shaping communications strategies at MTV Networks, Spike TV, and TNN. Prior to Viacom, he managed communications for CNBC and CNN.
In his farewell memo to staff — subject line: “I Was Dreaming When I Wrote This” — Bittler reflected on his career with both gratitude and affection:

“For so many years, this company has been a big tent party both on and off the screen(s), welcoming in fresh directions and new ideas… I did it for the audience. I did it for our people here and for our brands that mean so much to so many. But most of all, I did it for love.”
His departure comes during a period of transformation at Paramount, with leadership shifts and restructuring following the Skydance merger. Bittler leaves behind a legacy of creativity, brand stewardship, and cultural impact, cementing his reputation as a trusted voice behind some of the company’s most beloved entertainment brands.
