Tulsa King Renewed for Season 4 as Terence Winter Returns as Head Writer

Paramount+ has officially renewed its hit crime drama Tulsa King for a fourth season, continuing the gripping saga led by Sylvester Stallone. The announcement came during the Season 3 red carpet event in New York, just days ahead of the Season 3 premiere on September 21. In a key development, Terence Winter will return as executive producer and head writer, replacing outgoing showrunner Dave Erickson, who will now focus solely on Mayor of Kingstown.
Tulsa King, created by Taylor Sheridan and produced by Paramount TV Studios and 101 Studios, was already eyed for a two-season renewal when Stallone signed a new deal in late 2024. With Season 3 already confirmed back in March, Season 4 was expected—and it’s now official. Sources say this is not the final chapter, as discussions are underway to extend Stallone’s deal for two more years, potentially expanding the series to six seasons if the ratings remain strong.
Winter, best known as the creator of Boardwalk Empire, initially led Tulsa King Season 1 before stepping back. He returned as a consultant in Season 3 and is now making a full-time comeback as head writer for Season 4. In contrast, Erickson, who took on full showrunner duties in Season 3, is also stepping down from the upcoming Tulsa King spin-off NOLA King, starring Samuel L. Jackson, to concentrate on Mayor of Kingstown.
Season 2 of Tulsa King marked a record-breaking global premiere for Paramount+, drawing over 21.1 million viewers and ranking as the platform’s #1 global original in 2024. It was also among the Top 10 most-watched original series across all streaming services in Q4.
The story continues in Season 3 as Dwight Manfredi (Stallone) expands his criminal empire in Tulsa, facing off against the Dunmires, an old-money family that threatens everything he’s built. The season introduces Samuel L. Jackson as Russell Lee Washington Jr., ahead of his lead role in NOLA King.
