Too Much: Lena Dunham’s New Netflix Rom-Com Series Premieres July 10

Lena Dunham returns to television with Too Much, a new Netflix romantic comedy series set to premiere on July 10. The show stars Megan Stalter and Will Sharpe in a transatlantic tale of heartbreak, self-discovery, and unlikely romance.
In the trailer, viewers meet Jessica (Stalter), a New York workaholic in her mid-thirties who moves to London after a painful breakup. Hoping for a fresh start, she seeks solitude and healing in the British capital, but her plans are quickly disrupted when she meets Felix (Sharpe), a charming yet mysterious musician.
Jessica’s first impressions of London are far from ideal — noisy neighbors, cultural clashes, and emotional baggage from New York follow her. But things begin to change as she and Felix grow closer. While Jessica imagines herself in a classic rom-com, Felix offers a more cynical take on their surroundings, describing a neighborhood as being full of “rage and dark secrets.”

Despite red flags, the chemistry between them is undeniable. Their sharp banter includes dark humor, with Jessica jokingly asking Felix to “cut off [her ex’s] heads and sew them back on,” after he offers to take revenge. Netflix teases that Felix may be a “walking series of red flags,” which adds complexity to their growing bond.
According to the official synopsis, Too Much follows Jessica as she tries to escape the ghosts of New York by taking a job in London. Her intent is to lead a quiet life reminiscent of a Brontë novel. However, her connection with Felix forces her to confront unresolved emotions and question whether true love is still possible across cultural divides.
The series is co-created by Lena Dunham and her husband Luis Felber, inspired by their own relationship and Dunham’s life in the UK. At a recent Netflix event in London, Dunham admitted that the concept of the show is partially based on her real-life experiences.

Too Much boasts a star-studded ensemble cast that includes Michael Zegen, Janicza Bravo, Richard E.
