Power: Legacy – A New Spinoff Reunites Tariq & Tommy in the Power Universe

The Power universe is expanding once again. Starz has officially announced a new spinoff titled Power: Legacy, continuing the story with beloved original characters. The franchise, created by Courtney A. Kemp and executive produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, has evolved into one of the most successful crime dramas in recent years, with multiple successful offshoots.

Since its debut in 2014, Power has spawned three major spinoffs:

  • Power Book II: Ghost

  • Power Book III: Raising Kanan

  • Power Book IV: Force

Now, with Power: Legacy, the franchise adds another title to its growing catalog.

Key Cast Returns for Power: Legacy

The new project is led by executive producers Gary Lennon and Kendra Chapman, both of whom played a key role in Power Book IV: Force. Lennon will also act as showrunner for the upcoming series.

Confirmed to reprise their iconic roles are:

  • Michael Rainey Jr. as Tariq St. Patrick

  • Joseph Sikora as Tommy Egan

This marks the first time these characters will headline a series together since the original show ended in 2020.

What to Expect from the New Spinoff

Although still in early development, Power: Legacy is expected to take place in the present timeline. This opens the possibility for a major crossover between Tariq and Tommy, creating compelling narrative tension rooted in their shared history.

The show may also connect to Power: Origins, a prequel exploring the early lives of Ghost (Omari Hardwick) and Tommy. While Origins hasn’t yet been officially greenlit, the chances are high, especially with Sascha Penn onboard as showrunner following his work on Raising Kanan.

The Future of the Power Universe

With Raising Kanan and Force both approaching their final seasons, Power: Legacy represents the next logical step in maintaining and expanding the franchise’s momentum.

Starz has mastered the art of expanding the Power universe while keeping its core intact. By bringing back fan-favorite characters like Tariq and Tommy, the network ensures continued interest from longtime viewers and fresh intrigue for new audiences.

Why Power: Legacy Matters

After more than a decade, Power continues to dominate the crime drama landscape. Power: Legacy is not just a nostalgic return—it’s a strategic continuation that bridges past and present.

With its strong characters, layered storytelling, and high production value, the Power franchise remains a cornerstone of the Starz lineup. If the new series succeeds, it will reaffirm Power’s status as one of the most enduring television sagas in recent memory.
