International Literary Properties Partners with University of the South to Manage Tennessee Williams Estate

International Literary Properties (ILP) has announced an exclusive strategic partnership with The University of the South (Sewanee) to take an active management and co-stewardship role of the legendary playwright Tennessee Williams’ body of work.
This partnership extends beyond stage productions to include future film, television, and cross-media projects, signaling a new era for Williams’ extensive catalog.
The University of the South, entrusted with Williams’ collection since 1996 following his bequest honoring his grandfather Walter E. Dakin, will collaborate with ILP to broaden the reach and appreciation of one of America’s greatest playwrights. ILP will work alongside current key partners such as Casarotto Ramsay & Associates in London for premier stage opportunities, and Concord Theatricals for stock and amateur licensing.
Thomas B. McGrath, Chairman of ILP Theatrical, expressed excitement about the collaboration:
“We look forward to celebrating and expanding these works’ influence on the theatrical and entertainment landscape worldwide.”
ILP Theatrical CEO Michael Barra added, “It is an honor to help steward Tennessee Williams’ masterworks and introduce them to new generations of theatre and media audiences globally.”
Rob Pearigen, Vice-Chancellor and President of The University of the South, highlighted the significance of this partnership for the university’s rich literary tradition:
“Our programs—including the Sewanee Review, Sewanee Writers’ Conference, and the Tennessee Williams Center—will greatly benefit from this new chapter in managing Williams’ legacy.”
