Amazon MGM Studios Names Helen Moss Head of International Theatrical Distribution

Amazon MGM Studios has officially tapped Helen Moss, a longtime Paramount executive, as its new Head of International Theatrical Distribution, marking a significant move as the studio builds its global theatrical infrastructure.

Helen Moss’ Background

Moss has spent over a decade at Paramount Pictures, most recently serving as SVP of International Distribution. During her tenure, she oversaw the release of some of the studio’s biggest global hits, including:

  • Top Gun: Maverick ($1.49 billion worldwide)

  • The Mission: Impossible franchise

  • Star Trek, Transformers, and A Quiet Place

  • Horror reboots like Scream and Smile

  • Animated favorites from DreamWorks such as Kung Fu Panda, Shrek Forever After, and How to Train Your Dragon

A UK native, Moss began her career as VP of Film Planning in London before relocating to Los Angeles to help transition Paramount’s international head office in 2012. She was promoted to SVP in 2014, managing theatrical releases in 65+ markets worldwide with responsibilities spanning box office reporting, competitive analysis, and integrated release planning.

Her early career included roles in finance and planning at Expedia.com, Intercontinental Hotels Group, and Oriflame International.

Amazon MGM’s New Strategy

The move comes as Amazon MGM Studios prepares to end its international output deal with Warner Bros. at the close of 2025. Until its own foreign offices are fully established, the studio will rely on a multi-year distribution agreement with Sony, covering high-profile upcoming titles such as:

Once its infrastructure is built, Amazon MGM will directly distribute its own slate overseas, with Sony continuing to support in select markets.

Leadership Role

Moss will report to Courtenay Valenti, Head of Film, Streaming & Theatrical at Amazon MGM, and will collaborate with:

  • Sue Kroll, Global Head of Marketing

  • Kevin Wilson, Head of Domestic Theatrical Distribution

  • Charlie Coleman, Head of International Theatrical Marketing

  • Stephen Bruno, Head of Film Marketing

  • Adriene Bowles & Christine Batista, Co-Heads of Film Publicity

In an internal memo, Valenti praised Moss’ strategic vision, innovative approach, and leadership skills, calling her “an exceptional addition” as the studio prepares to release 15 films in 2026 and expand its international presence.

With Helen Moss at the helm, Amazon MGM Studios is taking a bold step toward controlling its theatrical destiny on a global scale. Her proven track record with blockbuster franchises positions her as a pivotal leader for the studio’s international ambitions.
