BBC Studios and Blink Collaborate on New Anime-Inspired Kids Series

BBC Studios Kids & Family is developing a new anime-inspired martial arts series aimed at 8-12-year-olds titled Children Vs Battle SuperStars (working title). This 22-episode series, each 22 minutes long, is set in a fantastical modern world where ordinary children face off against extraordinary martial arts ‘Super Stars.’ Created by animation duo Remus Buznea and Kyriaki (Kiki) Kyriakou, known for their work on Adult Swim’s Rick and Morty, this marks the first project under the two-year first-look deal between BBC Studios Kids & Family and Blink Industries, who will produce the series.


Wild Cards Expands UK and International Reach

Fifth Season has secured broadcast deals for the first two seasons of the crime procedural Wild Cards with Channel 5 and Paramount+ UK. The series, produced by Blink49 Studios, Front Street Pictures, and Piller/Segan in association with The CW and CBC Canada, debuted on Paramount+ UK in May 2025. Additional deals cover Greece, Cyprus, Malta (with The Walt Disney Company), Latin America (Sony Pictures Television), and the Balkans (Disney). Wild Cards stars Vanessa Morgan, Giacomo Gianniotti, and Jason Priestley, and Fifth Season has also acquired rights for the upcoming third and fourth seasons.


The Cage: New BBC Crime Drama Cast Revealed

BBC’s new crime drama The Cage, created by Tony Schumacher (The Responder) and produced by Element Pictures for BBC iPlayer and BBC One, has announced additional casting. Set in a Liverpool casino, the drama stars Sheridan Smith (Cilla) and Michael Socha (The Gallows Pole), alongside Barry Sloane (House of the Dragon), Geraldine James (Dope Girls), and others.

Gomorrah Prequel Series Set for January 2026 Release

Sky will launch Gomorrah — The Origins in January 2026, revealing the rise of mobster Pietro Savastano in this 1970s-set prequel. Luca Lubrano, a 16-year-old native of Naples, stars as Savastano, head of the infamous Neapolitan drug clan.


Dawn French Joins Animated Adaptation of Shaun Tan’s Tales

British comedian and actress Dawn French lends her voice to the TV adaptation of Shaun Tan’s Tales From Outer Suburbia, a 10-episode animated anthology series premiering at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival. Produced by Highly Spirited, Flying Bark Productions, and WA’s Siamese, the series explores surreal adventures experienced by siblings Klara and Pim after moving to Outer Suburbia with their mother.
