Divorced Sistas: Tyler Perry’s Bold New Series Explores Love, Sisterhood, and Vulnerability

Divorced Sistas, the latest original series from Tyler Perry, is set to debut on BET+ following the 2025 BET Awards. The eight-episode drama centers on five women—Rasheda (LeToya Luckett), Geneva (Khadeen Indréa), Naomi (Porscha Coleman), Tiffany (Briana Price), and Bridgette (Jennifer Sears)—who navigate love, divorce, and friendship while maintaining successful careers.

Premiering at NeueHouse Hollywood, Perry described the series to The Hollywood Reporter as a story about “strong, powerful, more mature women” who have weathered the ups and downs of relationships and marriage. The series is not just about romantic complications, but also about the complexities within their circle of sisterhood.

While dealing with divorces and personal challenges, the women rely on their bond to overcome emotional turmoil. Perry emphasized, “Them sticking together is what gets them through it.”

Each actress shared how her character’s struggles mirrored real-life emotional experiences. Indréa reflected on her role as Geneva, saying, “She is constantly living in a facade… she’s showing up as a representative of herself.” This theme of authenticity was echoed throughout the panel.

Coleman, who plays Naomi, spoke on the importance of breaking through emotional barriers: “There are so many moments where she finally has her breaking points… Be fearless, but also be OK to just show the real you.”

Briana Price highlighted how fear drives her character Tiffany’s outward focus on others. “She has a fear of actually looking at herself,” she explained. Sears, who portrays Bridgette, challenged the “strong Black woman” stereotype: “We want to feel seen, we want to feel heard, we want to be respected, we want to be protected.”

Luckett’s character Rasheda, a pastor’s wife trying to maintain perfection, finds balance through her lifelong friends. “She can always lean on her sisters… they know her,” said Luckett. “They’ve known her 20-plus years, and she can keep it real with them.”

The show exists in the same universe as Perry’s hit Sistas, allowing for potential crossovers. While addressing serious themes like vulnerability, identity, and healing, Divorced Sistas also delivers warmth and humor through the women’s shared experiences.

Off-screen, the bond between the cast members mirrored their characters’ relationships. “We held each other down,” said Indréa. “We were going to deal with it together head-on.” Luckett added, “We are intentional about showing up for each other… You’ll see that throughout the series.”

Perry assured viewers that the story only gets more gripping as it unfolds. “The first two episodes are just the warm-up,” he teased. “When this thing starts taking off… hold on. They deliver.”
