Though she originally wanted an all-white stage and wardrobe setup (a concept producers nixed for being visually harsh), she pivoted with clever branding — placing her first name “Iliza” prominently onstage to make sure viewers recognized her instantly. “I look for those types of opportunities to set myself apart,” she noted.

Shlesinger also spoke about the intangible energy of performing — the “super senses” comics develop during taping nights. “I’m very aware of everything,” she said. “You’re probably more sensitive than you normally are. And taping is the hardest part because there’s so much at stake — and you have to watch yourself later.”
