Mattel Launches Mattel Studios to Unify Film and Television Under Robbie Brenner

Mattel, the global leader in toys and family entertainment known for iconic brands like Barbie, has announced the creation of Mattel Studios, a new division that consolidates the company’s film and television units. Robbie Brenner, previously President of Mattel Films for nearly seven years, has been promoted to President and Chief Content Officer of Mattel Studios. She will oversee all creative content across both film and television.

Ynon Kreiz, Chairman and CEO of Mattel, emphasized the company’s vision for Mattel Studios:
“Our goal is to collaborate with top creators to develop standout, high-quality content based on Mattel’s iconic brands that will resonate culturally and attract global audiences. Robbie’s leadership and proven track record in brand-driven storytelling will strengthen Mattel’s position as a trusted partner for the world’s leading creative talent across film and television.”

In 2025 alone, Mattel Studios plans to premiere 14 TV series and specials, with 12 additional series in production and over 30 in development. Jennifer Breslow has been appointed Head of Television to lead the strategic direction of TV content and distribution.

Joining the studio as Senior Executives of Film are Darian Lanzetta and Tom McNulty, both bringing extensive experience in film development and production. All new executives will report directly to Brenner.

Brenner shared her enthusiasm:
“Mattel has attracted some of the best creative talent to reimagine our brands for the screen. I’m excited to expand our storytelling beyond films into episodic content. Together with Jennifer, Darian, and Tom, we are poised to support our growing slate and create content that connects with audiences worldwide.”

With 30 years of entertainment experience and two Best Picture Oscar nominations — including for Barbie and Dallas Buyers Club — Brenner joined Mattel in 2018. The company currently has a robust lineup of films in development, including the upcoming live-action Masters of the Universe featuring Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man, set for a June 5, 2026 release. Additionally, the live-action Matchbox film starring John Cena is slated for Fall 2026 following the completion of principal photography.

Jennifer Breslow brings a rich background from Legendary Entertainment, Netflix, and major TV networks such as ABC and The CW, where she worked on hits like Fate: The Winx Saga and Scandal. Darian Lanzetta has 12 years at CAA with a focus on representing diverse directors and writers, helping Mattel develop its film slate. Tom McNulty, with 25 years of industry success and over $2 billion in global box office revenue, has collaborated with top talents and produced acclaimed projects like Untold: Crimes and Penalties and The Stand In.

Mattel solidified its entertainment status with the Oscar-winning Barbie movie by Greta Gerwig, which grossed over $1.4 billion worldwide, becoming Warner Bros.’ fastest film to reach $1 billion.

The studio also announced projects with TriStar and A24, including a Whac-A-Mole hybrid feature and a live-action Barney movie penned by Ayo Edebiri, produced alongside Daniel Kaluuya.

Mattel continues to develop content from beloved properties such as American Girl, Hot Wheels, Bob the Builder, Magic 8 Ball, Polly Pocket, UNO, and more.
