Netflix Names Jinny Howe Head of UCAN Scripted Series, Succeeding Peter Friedlander

A major leadership shift has taken place at Netflix, as Jinny Howe has been promoted to Head of UCAN (US-Canada) Scripted Series, succeeding longtime executive Peter Friedlander, who is departing after nearly 14 years at the company.
Jinny Howe’s Rise at Netflix
Howe joined Netflix in 2018 after over a decade at John Wells Productions, where she specialized in serialized character dramas. Since then, she has quickly risen through the ranks, receiving four promotions in four years. Most recently, she served as Head of Drama Series for UCAN, overseeing both development and current programming.

Netflix’s Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria praised Howe as a creative force with strong industry relationships, noting her instinct for bold storytelling and describing her as “spirited, quick-witted, and always ready with a food analogy.”

As Head of UCAN Scripted, Friedlander oversaw Netflix’s biggest global tentpoles, including Wednesday, Stranger Things, Monster, One Piece, Emily in Paris, and Three Body Problem.
In his farewell note, Friedlander reflected on his journey:
