Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group Reshuffles Leadership After Josh Greenstein’s Departure Amid Paramount-Skydance Merger

Sony Pictures is undergoing a significant leadership shakeup following the departure of Josh Greenstein, Co-President of Sony Pictures’ Motion Picture Group, who is in talks to join the newly merged Paramount-Skydance in a senior executive role.
This move leaves Sanford Panitch as the sole President of Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group, signaling a consolidation of leadership at the Culver City studio.
In a related promotion, Peter Kang, currently Executive Vice President at Columbia Pictures, has been elevated to President of Production. Kang will oversee Columbia’s production and day-to-day development operations, reporting directly to Panitch. Meanwhile, veteran Andrea Giannetti has been promoted to Vice President Production and Senior Creative at Columbia Pictures, also reporting to Panitch.

Nicholas Weiss and Dave Fruchbom have been promoted to Co-Heads of Global Creative and Strategy. They will report to Danielle Misher, Head of Theatrical Marketing, and collaborate closely with Steven O’Dell, President of International Marketing and Distribution.

Misher and O’Dell report to Tom Rothman, CEO and Chairman of Sony Pictures’ Motion Picture Group.
Tom Rothman expressed regret over Greenstein’s departure but praised the strong leadership bench within the company. Rothman highlighted Weiss and Fruchbom as “two of the finest creative advertising minds” and praised the marketing leadership for ensuring continued growth.

He also lauded Kang as “one of the most skillful and dedicated production executives” and expressed confidence in his leadership of Columbia Pictures. Rothman praised Giannetti’s track record of delivering blockbuster films and praised Panitch’s unmatched abilities.
Sanford Panitch added, “I’m thrilled to have someone as accomplished and smart as Peter leading Columbia Pictures… It is a very exciting and promising time at Sony, where we continue to prioritize and prize the theatrical experience.”
