The 2025 Daytime Emmy nominations for eight major categories were announced on Wednesday evening, spotlighting top contenders in Best Drama Series, Best Drama Actress, Best Drama Actor, Best Culinary Instructional Series, Best Talk Series, Best Travel and Adventure Program, Best Instructional and How-To Program, and Best Lifestyle Program.
The remaining nominations for the 52nd annual Daytime Emmy Awards will be revealed on Thursday, July 10, at 9 a.m. PT/12 p.m. ET. This year, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) adjusted the traditional nomination timeline, swapping it with the News & Documentary Emmy Awards. The Daytime Emmys ceremony is scheduled for October 17 in Pasadena, California.
The Best Drama Series category features three nominees this year—Days of Our Lives, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless—after last year’s record six contenders. Notably, new soap Beyond the Gates was not eligible for 2025 but will compete in 2026.
The Best Drama Actress category includes six nominees, with four from The Young and the Restless: Sharon Case, Eileen Davidson, Melissa Claire Egan, and Michelle Stafford. Joining them are Nancy Lee Grahn and Laura Wright from General Hospital.
For Best Drama Actor, five nominees represent the three soaps: Eric Martsolf, Greg Rikaart, and Paul Telfer from Days of Our Lives; Peter Bergman from The Young and the Restless; and Dominic Zamprogna from General Hospital.
Several new categories debuted this year, including Best Emerging Talent, Best Regional Content in a Daytime Genre, Best Culinary Instructional Series, Best Culinary Cultural Series, Best Travel and Adventure Program, and Best Nature and Science Program. These new culinary and travel categories replace previous broader awards, reflecting a more specialized focus. Conversely, NATAS retired Best Original Song and Best Educational and Informational Program categories.
