GALECA Announces 17th Annual Dorian TV Awards Winners Celebrating LGBTQ-Inclusive Excellence

GALECA: The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics revealed the winners of its 17th annual Dorian TV Awards, honoring outstanding achievements in television and streaming with a strong focus on mainstream and LGBTQ-inclusive programming.

HBO Max’s medical drama The Pitt was awarded Best TV Drama, with Noah Wyle winning Best TV Drama Performance for his role as an emergency room doctor.

In comedy, Hacks dominated by winning Best TV Comedy for the third time. Jean Smart earned Best TV Performance and was also named a GALECA TV Icon, joining the ranks of previous honorees like Jennifer Coolidge and Carol Burnett. The show also won Best LGBTQ TV Show, Best Written TV Show, and Best Supporting TV Performance for Hannah Einbinder.

Special honors included Cole Escola, recipient of the Wilde Wit Award, and Ncuti Gatwa, recognized as the LGBTQIA+ TV Trailblazer for his groundbreaking role as the first Black and openly queer actor to play the lead in BBC’s Doctor Who.

Diane Anderson-Minshall, GALECA’s executive director, praised the winners: “Queer folks have an especially keen eye for stellar TV, using our culture’s lens to elevate the bold, brilliant, and blissfully bonkers.”

In music, Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo won Best TV Musical Performance for their Oscar medley celebrating The Wizard of Oz universe, outperforming fierce competition including Beyoncé and Kendrick Lamar.

The Traitors, hosted by Alan Cumming, won both Campiest TV Show and Best Reality Show for the second year running, surpassing heavyweights like RuPaul’s Drag Race.

With a total of 11 wins, HBO/Max led all platforms, followed by Netflix with three wins.
