The Morning Show Season 4 Tackles Truth, Power, and Polarization in Post-Truth America

When The Morning Show returns this fall, the acclaimed Apple TV+ drama dives headfirst into the post-truth era, reflecting a world where truth, trust, and media accountability are more fragile than ever.

We have to question everything we see and hear now more than ever,” says Alex Levy (played by Jennifer Aniston), now a top executive at the network, in the new teaser trailer. Her former on-air partner Bradley Jackson (Reese Witherspoon) echoes the urgency: “The truth always comes out, you know that.

Though the teaser features no new footage, it overlays key lines from returning and new characters as Aniston and Witherspoon walk through a mirrored Manhattan cityscape—a nod to the show’s central themes of perception, identity, and control.

Returning characters, including those played by Mark Duplass and Billy Crudup, are heard discussing power dynamics and dirty work, while Jon Hamm’s tech-mogul-turned-antagonist warns Alex: “You wanna run this place? You have to really, really want it.

Meanwhile, internal struggles rise among the women in leadership, portrayed by Greta Lee and Karen Pittman, while new additions like Boyd Holbrook’s provocative podcaster Brodie, and Oscar-winner Marion Cotillard as Celine Dumont—a sharp, strategic figure from a powerful European family—enter the fray. Cotillard’s character poses a chilling line: “I like to know who’s an ally and who’s a liability.

The highly anticipated 10-episode season premieres September 17 on Apple TV+, kicking off with a single episode, followed by weekly releases every Friday until November 19.

Season 4 will bring back executive producers and stars Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, along with returning cast members Nestor Carbonell, Nicole Beharie, and new faces Jeremy Irons, Aaron Pierre, and William Jackson Harper.

Last season ended on a powerful note, setting Alex and Bradley on conflicting paths. Alex outmaneuvered a Musk-like tech billionaire (played by Hamm) to secure her place at the top of UBA, enabling a network merger with a rival brand. Meanwhile, Bradley faced a possible felony charge for evidence tampering linked to the January 6 Capitol riot, after covering up her brother’s assault on a police officer.

Everybody has to face what they have to face,” said showrunner Charlotte Stoudt, emphasizing that accountability is key—without rendering the world bleak. “Even when you have to be accountable for something, life can go on.

Season 4 will begin nearly two years after the events of the last season. Now set in spring 2024, the UBA-NBN merger is complete, and the network faces corporate intrigue, polarized narratives, and the murky nature of truth. In a climate saturated with deepfakes, conspiracy theories, and cover-ups, the central questions become:
Who can you trust? And what is real?

Produced by Media Res, the show continues to be helmed by showrunner Charlotte Stoudt, director Mimi Leder, and executive producers Michael Ellenberg, Lindsey Springer, Witherspoon, Lauren Neustadter, Aniston, Kristin Hahn, Zander Lehmann, and Micah Schraft.
