Jurassic World Rebirth Dominates July 4 Box Office With $141.2M in 5 Days

SATURDAY AM UPDATE: Neither barbecues, swimming pools, nor fireworks could keep audiences away as Universal and Amblin’s Jurassic World Rebirth stomped into theaters with a massive $26.3M Friday, up 4% from Thursday. That marks the film’s second-highest grossing day after its $30.5M opening — which began at 12:01 AM.
The film’s 5-day domestic total is now $141.2M, with a Friday-Sunday haul of $85.4M. Globally, the movie has opened to a staggering $312.5M across 82 markets, surpassing Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’s debut of $298.9M. The franchise leader remains the original Jurassic World with a record-breaking $525.5M global opening, the 6th highest worldwide of all time.
Despite Independence Day distractions, Rebirth posted the best July 4th performance for a #1 movie post-COVID, overtaking Despicable Me 4 ($20.3M), Rise of Gru ($16M), Sound of Freedom ($14.2M), and F9 ($5.2M). Only Transformers: Age of Extinction in 2014 showed a similar +10% July 4th increase over Thursday.
