Chrisley Family Credits Trump Pardon for Prison Release: “It Was Our Only Way Out”

The Chrisley family has broken their silence following Todd and Julie Chrisley’s release from prison, crediting former President Donald Trump’s pardon as their saving grace. In their first televised interview since the pardon, the reality TV family sat down with Lara Trump on My View with Lara Trump to discuss their legal journey, time behind bars, and what comes next.

Savannah Chrisley, who has been the most vocal advocate for her parents since their imprisonment in 2023, shared emotional details about the moment they received news of the pardon. “We had hit an all-time low,” she said, recalling how she was arguing with her younger brother, Grayson, when they got the life-changing call. “I had just reached a point of, like, I’ve done everything I can do… And then I got the call from Margo Martin,” referring to Trump’s communications adviser.

Savannah emphasized that Trump’s 2024 presidential election victory was, in her words, “our only way out.” Watching the results together, she said both she and Grayson broke down in tears, understanding the significance the win held for their family. “God touched President Trump’s heart,” Todd Chrisley added, expressing his gratitude for the pardon and the opportunity to reunite with his family.

Todd and Julie were convicted in 2022 on federal charges including bank fraud and tax evasion, receiving 12- and 7-year sentences, respectively. Their full pardons, delivered personally by Trump’s team in May 2024, shocked many and coincided with the announcement of the Chrisleys’ return to reality television.

The upcoming Untitled Chrisleys Project on Lifetime promises an unfiltered look at their post-prison lives. Savannah revealed that filming had already begun prior to the pardon. “We picked right back up,” she said. “It’s going to give people a look into the trial, what we went through, and we’re going to set the record straight.”

During the interview, Todd and Julie reflected on their time in prison. Todd spoke of mentoring younger inmates he now calls his “prison sons,” voicing his intention to become an advocate for criminal justice reform. “These kids deserve a second chance,” he said. “It’s my calling to help the men I left behind.”

Grayson and Chloe, whom Savannah took custody of during their parents’ incarceration, also appeared in the interview. Grayson expressed relief that their family no longer had to “hide their political views,” highlighting their ongoing support for Trump.

The interview concluded on a hopeful note, with the Chrisleys promising to use their platform to share their story and push for reform. As they prepare to re-enter the public spotlight, the family’s next chapter will unfold on reality TV — this time with a much higher emotional and political profile.
