Dexter: Resurrection Trailer Reveals Dark New Chapter in the Franchise

The infamous serial killer Dexter Morgan is back, and he’s not alone in his darkness. The newly released trailer for Dexter: Resurrection drops a bombshell: Dexter finds himself in New York City among a chilling group of serial killers, reminiscent of an Avengers-style gathering.

Continuation of the Dexter Saga

Dexter: Resurrection serves as the latest sequel, following Dexter: New Blood (2021) and the origin story series Dexter: Original Sin. Michael C. Hall returns as Dexter Morgan, picking up immediately after surviving a near-fatal shooting by his son, Harrison (Jack Alcott).

The series picks up where Original Sin left off, further exploring Dexter’s resurrection, which was teased in a flash-forward scene in the previous series.

Major Character Reunions and New Faces

Fans will be excited for the long-awaited reunion between Dexter and Miami Metro detective Angel Batista (David Zayas). In the trailer, Batista confronts Dexter about being the notorious Bay Harbor Butcher, leading Dexter to flee and seek anonymity in New York City.

In New York, Dexter encounters new characters played by Uma Thurman and Peter Dinklage, who introduce him to a circle of serial killers portrayed by Neil Patrick Harris, Krysten Ritter, Eric Stonestreet, and David Dastmalchian.

Plot Overview

Dexter: Resurrection begins weeks after Dexter awakens from a coma, only to discover his son Harrison has disappeared. Determined to find his son and seek redemption, Dexter heads to New York, but his past catches up quickly as Angel Batista hunts him down.

Meanwhile, Harrison struggles with his own path, and the ghost of Dexter’s father, Harry (James Remar), returns to guide him.

The series premieres with two episodes on Friday, July 11, exclusively on Paramount+ (available early for subscribers of the Paramount+ with Showtime plan), before its television debut on Sunday, July 13. The rest of the season will release weekly.

Dexter: Resurrection is executive produced by showrunner Clyde Phillips, Michael C. Hall, Scott Reynolds, Tony Hernandez, Lilly Burns, and Marcos Siega. Production is led by Showtime Studios and Counterpart Studios.
