Prime Video’s “Bloodaxe” Expands Cast with Six New Series Regulars in Epic Viking Drama

Prime Video’s Viking epic Bloodaxe is assembling a powerful ensemble, adding six new series regulars to its cast ahead of its highly anticipated production start in Ireland and Iceland this summer. The new additions include:

• Karlis Arnolds Avots (January)

• Rod Hallett (Suspect: The Shooting of Jean Charles De Menezes)

• Alina Tomnikov (Donna)

• Sisse Marie (Rebel Moon)

• Rune Temte (Eddie the Eagle)

Additionally, Jesper Christensen (Spectre) joins in a recurring role.

Character Highlights:

• Karlis Arnolds Avots portrays Egil, a poet, farmer, murderer, sorcerer, and psychopath bent on avenging his family’s exile at the hands of King Harald Fairhair, father of Erik Bloodaxe.

• Rod Hallett steps in as Athelstan, the King of Wessex — a shrewd warrior-king who holds long-term strategic interests tied to Haakon, the son of King Fairhair.

• Alina Tomnikov takes on dual roles as Greta and The Seer. Greta is a fierce shield maiden in Bloodaxe’s inner circle, while The Seer is an ancient mystical being who can foretell the future through divine insight.

• Sisse Marie plays Thyra, the Queen of Denmark, a cunning and steadfast royal with ambitions to preserve and expand her family’s power.

• Rune Temte portrays Gorm, King of Denmark, whose cold strategic leadership contrasts with the impulsive tendencies of typical Norse rulers.

• Jesper Christensen appears as King Harald Fairhair, Norway’s first king, nearing the twilight of his reign as suspicion grows among his sons about succession.

As previously announced, Jessica Madsen stars as Gunnhild, Erik’s wife and “Mother of Kings,” while Levi Miller portrays Haakon the Good, his younger half-brother.
