Remembering Langley Perer: Beloved Producer and Advocate Lost After Courageous Cancer Battle

The entertainment industry mourns the loss of Langley Perer, a beloved manager and producer, who passed away on June 25 after a courageous four-year battle with cancer. She was 44 years old and is survived by her husband, writer-producer Scott Rosenberg, and their two children.

Perer was known for producing films such as I Am Number Four, Dude, and Arthur. She had a longstanding career at Mosaic as a manager and producer before leaving in 2017 to focus on her family and creative projects. Among her later works was the dark comedy Treatable, inspired by her own fight with cancer, which she co-wrote with her former client Laura Lekkos.

Renowned for her vivacious personality, force-of-nature determination, and infectious wit, Langley began her career as an assistant at Gersh before moving to Benderspink as a literary manager in 2003. She quickly advanced at Mosaic, nurturing the careers of many writers and directors including Olivia Milch, Stacey Harmon, Nick Schutt, Phil and Brandon Murphy, Max Nichols, Ryan Engle, and Laura Lekkos.

Mosaic principal Jimmy Miller described her as “the brightest of lights” who changed the energy of any room. He praised her as a mother, wife, manager, and producer with a funny, smart, and beautiful spirit. Olivia Milch echoed these sentiments, calling Langley “one of the greatest gifts” in her life and highlighting her commitment, vibrancy, and joy in creating art.

Langley’s battle with cancer was deeply personal and impactful. In 2017, she was diagnosed with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), the earliest stage of breast cancer, and underwent a double mastectomy due to a positive BRCA2 gene mutation. Despite this, in 2021, she was diagnosed with leptomeningeal metastases (LBM)—a rare and aggressive form of cancer spread to the brain and spinal fluid.

To support critical research on LBM, Langley and Scott Rosenberg donated $2 million to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, the largest gift ever for LBM research. Their philanthropic effort supports Dr. Nancy Lin, a leading expert in metastatic breast cancer and brain metastases.

The family has requested that donations be made in Langley Perer’s honor to the Kiki Fund for Leptomeningeal Research.

Langley’s legacy as a vibrant producer, devoted mother, and fierce cancer advocate will continue to inspire many.
