Lifetime Launches Faith-Focused Movie Lineup with Powerful Female Leads

Lifetime is stepping into the realm of faith-based storytelling with a new Saturday-night movie lineup under the theme: “women facing unfathomable circumstances who use their faith to lead them through.” This powerful initiative brings together strong female protagonists in emotionally resonant stories of resilience, hope, and spiritual growth.
The upcoming four-film slate will feature a diverse cast of celebrated actresses, including Chrissy Metz, Alexa PenaVega, Kat Graham, and Paula Patton, each leading a story that navigates adversity through faith and perseverance.
Faith in the Flames: The Nichole Jolly Story (Premieres July 19)
Chrissy Metz stars as real-life hero Nichole Jolly, a nurse who risked her life during the devastating 2018 Paradise, California wildfire. Based on a true story, this film portrays a woman who, surrounded by destruction, finds the strength to survive through her belief in God and commitment to others.
Before Your Father Finds Us (Premieres July 26)
Alexa PenaVega leads this tense thriller as a woman who must protect herself and her teenage daughter from a violent ex-husband. Drawing on her faith to survive, she embarks on a suspenseful journey of escape and emotional endurance, a storyline deeply aligned with Lifetime’s signature themes.
Terri Blackstock’s If I Run (Premieres August 2)
Adapted from Terri Blackstock’s best-selling Christian suspense novel, this film stars Kat Graham as Casey Cox, a woman framed for her best friend’s murder. With divine guidance and her own cunning, she evades capture while being pursued by Dylan Roberts (played by Evan Roderick), a veteran-turned-investigator struggling with PTSD. As Dylan uncovers the truth, he begins to question her guilt — and sees that the real story is far more dangerous.
James Tupper also stars, and Kat Graham serves as executive producer alongside Lighthouse Pictures and Fezziwig Studios.
Finding Faith (Premieres August 9)
In this deeply emotional drama, Paula Patton plays Faith Mitchell, a woman devastated by the sudden loss of her husband. Spiraling into grief and spiritual doubt, she slowly rebuilds her life through the support of her family, pastor, and community. The film is a journey of rediscovery, purpose, and healing.

Also starring Loretta Devine, Stephen Bishop, Nadine Velazquez, Demetrius Grosse, and Keith David, the movie is directed by LazRael Lison and produced in collaboration with Summer House Pictures and Black Bench Productions.
According to Elaine Frontain Bryant, EVP and head of programming for A&E, Lifetime, and LMN, the move into faith-based content is a direct response to audience demand:
“We know there has always been a desire for stories that reflect strength, resilience, and faith… These are stories of healing, hope, and perseverance — and we believe they will resonate with anyone who’s ever faced adversity.”
The trend follows the breakout success of faith-focused media like Sound of Freedom from Angel Studios, as well as upcoming releases from Netflix, Amazon Prime, and even Martin Scorsese.
With these new films, Lifetime is carving out space in the genre with authentic, emotionally grounded stories led by women of faith — and promising viewers a source of inspiration and reflection every Saturday night.
