Miramax Secures Film Rights to Amy Taylor’s Ruins with Vanessa Kirby and Sebastian Stan Attached

Miramax has acquired the film rights to Ruins, the highly anticipated second novel by Australian author Amy Taylor, in a competitive bid. The adaptation will star and be produced by Oscar nominees Vanessa Kirby and Sebastian Stan, with Scott Free Productions assembling the package. Kirby will produce through her own production company, Aluna Entertainment.
Alexandra Loewy, President of the Film Group at Miramax, led the acquisition deal.
Ruins is a provocative story set in Athens, following a couple whose summer entanglement with a young Greek woman begins to unravel the foundation of their relationship. The novel explores themes of power, privilege, intimacy, and desire. It will be published by The Dial Press in the United States on August 12 and by Allen & Unwin in Australia and New Zealand on July 1. UK publishing rights are currently under negotiation.
Amy Taylor is best known for her debut novel Search History, released in 2023. She is represented by CAA and Pippa Masson at Curtis Brown Australia.

Sebastian Stan recently earned critical acclaim and several major award nominations—including an Academy Award, Golden Globe, and BAFTA—for his portrayal of a young Donald Trump in The Apprentice. He also received a Golden Globe for A Different Man from A24 and garnered Emmy and SAG nominations for Pam and Tommy. Vanessa Kirby, a recipient of the Volpi Cup and a BAFTA Award, will portray Sue Storm in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, scheduled for global release on July 25. She’s also set to appear in Ron Howard’s period thriller Eden and Netflix’s Night Always Comes, which she also produced via Aluna Entertainment. Kirby’s past performances include Pieces of a Woman (Oscar-nominated), Mission: Impossible, Napoleon, The Crown, and Hobbs & Shaw. Her company Aluna Entertainment holds a first-look deal with Netflix, and she serves as a Global Ambassador for War Child.
