Mark Ruffalo Criticizes Joe Rogan and Trump’s ICE Raids Amid Controversy Over Immigration Enforcement

Marvel veteran Mark Ruffalo recently criticized podcaster Joe Rogan following Rogan’s outspoken condemnation of Donald Trump and the harsh ICE raids targeting undocumented and non-criminal Latino immigrants. Ruffalo, a multiple Oscar nominee and political advocate, called out Rogan on the social media platform Threads, owned by Mark Zuckerberg, for what he sees as a delayed realization regarding Project 2025—a controversial Trump-era immigration enforcement plan.
Ruffalo’s pointed comment read: “Dear @joerogan. It’s a little late now to pretend like Project 2025 didn’t exist and wasn’t the playbook all along. You are either not that smart or not that dumb.” The reference highlights the nearly 1,000-page policy document Trump distanced himself from during the last election but has since embraced aggressively.
Over the past week, Ruffalo has also publicly criticized figures such as Elon Musk, Senator John Fetterman, MAGA pundit Charlie Kirk, and billionaire Bill Ackman. His comment came in response to Rogan’s July 2 episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, where Rogan voiced frustration over ICE’s raids targeting regular migrant workers—not gang members or criminals—at places like construction sites and Home Depot stores.
Arizona Senator Ruben Gallego echoed Rogan’s concerns, posting his support privately on Instagram. Reports reveal that ICE agents, often heavily armed and without proper identification, have been conducting aggressive raids in cities such as Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York, often detaining people based on their appearance, including U.S. citizens and legal residents. This has sparked widespread protests, leading Trump to federalize the California National Guard and deploy Marines to control dissent.
Under pressure from Stephen Miller, White House Chief of Staff and Trump advisor, ICE is reportedly aiming to increase daily detentions to 3,000, with mass deportations intensifying. Disturbingly, Trump has even hinted at deporting U.S. citizens, naturalized or born.

The recently signed Big Beautiful Bill allocates billions toward building detention centers and significantly expands ICE’s budget, potentially making it one of the largest armed forces globally. Elon Musk, a leading GOP donor who has since formed the America Party, is also involved in political efforts opposing aspects of this bill.
Joe Rogan, who has publicly supported Trump in the past and frequently attends UFC matches with the former president, voiced his disapproval of the recent ICE operations in mid-June on his podcast. He criticized the raids on ordinary workers, saying, “I don’t think anybody would have signed up for that… They said we’d get rid of criminals and gang members first… Now we’re seeing Home Depots get raided. That’s crazy.”
Mark Ruffalo, known for his activism on climate change and progressive causes, and other MCU members actively supported Kamala Harris in her campaign to prevent Trump’s return to the presidency—an effort that ultimately failed.
