Gigi Zumbado Talks Bride Hard: Comedy, Action, and Playing a Pregnant Character

Gigi Zumbado, known for her role in The Rookie, recently spoke with ComingSoon about her part in the upcoming action comedy film Bride Hard, starring Rebel Wilson and Anna Camp. The movie blends the raunchy humor of Bridesmaids with high-octane action and explosions and is set for theatrical release on June 20, 2025, from Magenta Light Studios.

In Bride Hard, Rebel Wilson plays Sam, a badass secret agent who finds herself out of her element as the maid of honor at her best friend’s extravagant destination wedding. Sam faces a strict “no weapons” rule while surrounded by demanding bridesmaids. But when mercenaries crash the party and take guests hostage, Sam must navigate a high-stakes battle disguised as a fairy-tale wedding, dodging bullets and brawling in heels to save the day. The synopsis sums it up: “Some missions require the perfect cover. This one just requires the perfect dress.”

Cast Chemistry and Filming Experience

Tyler Treese asked Gigi about working with the talented and funny female ensemble in Bride Hard. Gigi described the cast as “insane,” praising them as the funniest, fiercest, and most beautiful group of girls. Filming in Savannah, Georgia, known as a bachelorette party hotspot, added to the fun atmosphere, complete with “bikes with beers” and memorable off-screen moments.

Da’Vine Joy Randolph’s Comedy Commitment

Gigi highlighted the comedic talent of Da’Vine Joy Randolph, who delivers a standout scene reciting the classic song “My Neck, My Back”. Gigi admired Da’Vine’s commitment to comedy and her ability to bring fun and energy to the set, calling her an actress she looks up to.

Playing a Pregnant Character

When asked about portraying a pregnant character, Gigi was candid:

“It was absolutely terrible… It was so hot, very moist, and pretty brutal under the belly prosthetic. It was difficult, but I committed to it.”

Despite the discomfort, she acknowledged that the movie is great and the experience was rewarding.

Career Momentum and Gratitude

Reflecting on her career, especially following her role in Heart Eyes earlier in the year, Gigi expressed gratitude for the success she’s experiencing:

“I’m really grateful… I have two sisters who are also actresses, and we know the hard work and sacrifices involved. I’m proud to represent my family and happy to claim this moment in the spotlight.”

Bride Hard hits theaters nationwide on June 20, 2025, promising a unique mix of action, comedy, and heartfelt moments anchored by a powerful female cast.
